Why does my wireless keep dropping?
I'm with BT and have a black BT home hub but on my laptop my wireless connection keeps dropping.
It doesn't drop on my xbox, iPhone or iPad but it does on my laptop?
Anyone know what the problem could be?
Maybe even how to fix it
You can try changing the wi-fi channels on the bt home hub, but the home hub as really reputation for having a bad wi-fi signal, I have BT Infinity and I only used the hub for about a week, one of computers is about 8ft away from the hub and i had really poor signal, So I ended up using my own router… But for you at the moment I suggest logging into the hub and changing the Wi-Fi channel… See if that helps
You may want to look for something that is in the way of your laptop and the hub that can interfere with the signal coming from it and from your laptop.something electrical. That switches on when there's a drop. Hot water pumps for central heating and showers. Washing machines dishwashers can all throw out interference. Even the fan can throw out interference when it speeds up to cool the laptop.
Also you may want to look at what else is trying to connect to the hub that should not be. Or other devices inside your home connecting to it.
You could always try using an external Wi-Fi adaptor. They often work better than the one installed in the computer.
Get one that has an aerial and do the "whisk" mod see you tube.a metal whisk around the aerial acts like a sort of Faraday cage and increases the signal.
