Why does my wireless think it's WEP when it's WPA?
Okay, so I've got a bit of a weird problem on my wireless connection. I've recently moved to a new flat, the wireless works fine on my laptop (running XP) and on my iPhone with no problems, however on my PC (running Windows 7) it DID connect, however after about a day it said that the settings saved do not match what's required on the router.
The router definitely has WPA-Personal, however windows seems to think that it's WEP and therefore the key for it doesn't work. I've managed to get it working by setting it up manually through the Manage Wireless Networks page and setting it to connect even when the wireless isn't broadcasting it's name, but every time I restart the computer it stops working and I have to delete this connection and then create another one manually.
My wireless card is an 802.11n Wireless PCI Express Card LAN Adapter (I'm sorry if that's the wrong thing to put down, I'm not too good when it comes to networking and hardware). If there's any more information I need to put down, please do let me know, sorry again I'm not that good when it comes to things like this!
It is probably trying to connect to a neighbouring WEP network.
when you get the same problem again set up the correct network go to wireless adapter properties and select your own network as the preferential network to give it priority
- You think I could buy a iPhone 5 if i work what you guys think? You guys think that if i work at McDonald or any store i can afford to buy the iPhone 5? And pay every month
- Wireless router experiencing problems when an Apple device connects via wireless? We have a home router (CD-R King brand), everything runs smoothly until someone with an apple device connects to the network. I tried pinging google continuously, but when an ipad or iphone connects. The network goes down. i've heard this problem from a friend.what's causing this problem?
- Verizon Wireless vs Cricket Wireless? On Friday I'm going to get the iPhone 5 and I have an option between those two carriers. So which is better. Please give information about both.
- Somebody has accessed my secured WPA home network with no password whatsoever? Two nephews at home… One needed the password, one could access my very own home network with no password whatsoever, and did so on another network. What sorcery is in his iPhone? I'm very worried. Again, it seems he can access networks ignoring their security, happened at least twice, not just my own network.
