Why does the iPhone 5 cost more than any smartphone?

What justifies the extra cost? Can it make me coffee?

It's because you pay for the name. It's apple. Look at macs. And it can't make you coffee haha but it can do so much, to be honest it's only as good as every other smartphone. You only pay extra to have a picture of an apple on the back when no one can even see it

No phones cost more than each other, they averagely cost the same.

Also the phone price changes depending on the phone plan you have. I have a Familly plan I think, and an IPhone 5 was only 50 Dollars! CRAZY RIGHT! Because it all depends on the plan you have. And if you dot have one… Than its gonna be pretty expensive

See, although apple and other phones have almost the same features, it is expensive because it's more popular. You see when apple released it's iPhone 1 (for $100 with contract), no one had ever seen a touch screen phone with such a good OS. Then apple started picking up the price (more demand=hyped price for more profit). And the brand is apple, and that is what makes their phones expensive. Yet their iOS and app store is very good, so that also contributes to the price. Hope this helps.
