Why does the iphone cost more than the android?

Because it is sold by Apple and they sell it as an exclusive luxury product. Its not like its that much better than androids, its just considered special because of the name. Its like buying expensive brand name clothes or something.

Apple has a brilliant marketing team. They were able to market Apple products to the exact opposite of Windows users: creative people. Windows are mostly used for business and personal computing, while Apple was able to convince idiots that Apple products were better for creativity and art. No apple computer is ever going to be better than a PC that costs the same, ever.

Apple has better design and far lighter, better security, etc.

They are just overpriced
The price / tariifs paid for iPhone on any / all networks defies logic and gravity!

Why would anyone buy a camera phone that did NOT have a flash,
The Iphone 4 in 2010 was the first Iphone to have a camera flash so despite the high prices of the earlier iPhone… Not required

it certainly is NOT on specs as android phones have the features Apple come along later and rename it

Couple reasons.
1.it is a premium product… No matter what anyone says, iPhones are really well built… Sure they are fragile but they use premium materials (like glass and Aluminum) where android phones are usually made of plastic.
2.apple is a marketing guru. They market the device as an accessory, and not a utility. People see the iphone as a status symbol… So they want it. And they will pay to get it… Very similar to name brand cloths.
3. Marketing… Apple spends millions on marketing… They have to make up the money some where.

thats pretty much it. They are a large company, they advertise constantly, and they need to make money some how. Asking for an extra $50 per phone is a TON of money they make.

but look at google. Their current flagship phone (nexus 4) is $350 off contract compaired to the $600+ of the iPhone 5. The nexus is superior in EVERY way, but no one knows about them really, because they just don't advertise like apple does… This is why they can price it so low.plus, google is probably taking a bit of a hit at that price just so people will buy the phone and use their services… So they make money off of play store purchases.
