Why doesn't Cydia work on my iPhone anymore?
My friend jail broke my phone and cydia and all the downloaded patches/apps were working fine until I had to turn my phone off. I turned it back on and now nothing I downloaded from cydia works anymore. Should I re install it or what?
Your friend did what is probably called a "tethered jailbreak", which goes away after you turn the phone off and on again.
Usually for any given new version of iOS, a "tethered jailbreak" is made available first, and then later on an "untethered jailbreak" becomes available, which is permanent.
In your case, you have two choices:
- Have your friend re-jailbreak your phone and don't turn it off again,
- Or use iTunes to restore your phone which will fully remove all signs of jailbreaking.
Longer term, you can consider installing an untethered jailbreak, if and when that is available for your specific phone.
