Why doesn't my gevey sim ultra s iOS 6 work on my iPhone 4s?

I bought an iPhone second hand from someone, it said sim locked I thought hey I can just unlock it, but by mistake was to update to iOS 6. Btw the person that sold it to me mention something about, using an international France sim, i don't know. The carrier used to say tmobile, when they show me. Well I bought a gevey ultra s iOS 6 sim, it won't work the instructions it came with are for gevey ultra s for gsm 4s iOS 5.1.1, I try method one which said select your iPhone 4S carrier, I don't know the carrier I select AT&T, I try the next method to manually input the carrier code, but its a hassle I don't know the carrier, plus I'm really all confused about this. It seems I have a useless iPhone. Can some please help.
