Why doesn't the computer work unless my Iphone 4s has Safari open?

As the title says, I have a fairly new computer, 8mb broadband (unlimited) working over a wired connection. It will not work (nothing loads, facebook, yahoo, youtube) and it even says I'm not connected to Skype any more. However, when unlock my iPhone 4s and open the safari browser, it works on my computer. My phone is not acting as a hub as it is not connected to my PC and the 3G is not enabled, however the Wi-Fi is. I was wondering if anyone had encountered a problem similar to this before, and if so, how did they fix it?

If you haven't already use the install disk that came with your router and go through the setup wizard. If you don't have the disk go to the company that makes your routers website and see if you can find the router install there.

Well it was obviously connected to your phone via Wi-Fi at some point or other. Look in your network properties on the PC in control panel and see if there's a lan connection. If so, right click it and make sure it's enabled. If not, download and install the lan driver for that model on the pc mfgs website. If it appears enabled, check the network cable at both ends to make sure it's enabled and make sure your modem internet indicator sees internet. You might also try unplugging the modem and router power if you have one and plugging them back in.
