Why has my iPhone's battery drained so fast?

I have an iPhone 4, and I currently have iOS7 installed.
I've had it for a while now but it's only this year I've started to experience issues with it.
In July it randomly locked itself into recovery mode and I had to pay for an out of warranty exchange. As a result of this my handset it now fairly new so I wouldn't be expecting to experience any kind of battery issues with it.
My battery percentage was 55% when I got to work. It was left in my bag for just over 7 hours, turned on and when I went to take it out at the end of the day it had completely drained down to the point where my phone was unusable. No apps had been left running, no music had been left playing and I'd only received a few text messages and emails in those 7 hours. Although I'm aware iPhone battery life isn't great, surely 55% draining completely in 7 hours of me not once picking my phone up to use it is worrying?

Now I'm back home it's charging fine and everything seems to be in working order but I'm still concerned about how fast my battery seemed to drain today as I've never experienced battery drainage this fast before. Could there potentially be an issue with the battery that might be worth going into an apple store to get it looked at? (I have a 90 day limited warranty from when I got my phone replaced so if there's an issue I'm still in my warranty for a new handset)

IOS 7 has a bug where it drains your phone battery extremely fast! It sucks, but it will get fixed soon. To help for now, turn off your Wi-Fi when you're not using it. Clear your musti-tasking (double click the home button and clear the apps) Turn down your brightness when your not using it. All things i do

I think I might know…
A few months ago my iPhone wouldn't turn on. I went to the apple store and they said my iPhone had been over drived. I had to many apps open. What you need to do is double tap the home button, then a row of resently used apps should appear. Now click on the as if you were deleting it. A red circle with a white line going through it should appear, click on this. Do this until all the apps are gone. If this doesn't work I'm sorry I don't know.

I had the same problem. I set the iphone to never shut off instead of the light going off every five minutes, it stayed on - and that is precisely why your battery is sucked dry. Let it shut off every 5 or 15 minutes and your battery will last 1 - 2 days.

  • Why is the battery on my iPhone 4S suddenly draining so fast? It used to use a reasonable amount for a smart phone, but starting this week, I can lose 50% of the charge in one day with minimal use.
  • Why is my iPhone 4s running out of battery so fast? Obviously iPhones are renowned for low battery lives. But mine is normally fine, i turn my apps off, brightness is never usually high. Though starting yesterday it has been dropping ridiculously quickly, going from 100% at 9am and then within the hour it's gone to less then 30%, my battery isn't lasting longer then two hours before dying, previously it had lasted as long as 8 hours and is heating up alot, can anyone help me out?
  • Why is my iPhone 4s running out of battery so fast? - 1 It started yesterday i would wake up with 100% battery and within an hour it's already on 20% and i haven't even used it?
  • Why does my iPhone battery die so fast? I have boost magic, which is supposed to help my battery last longer, and I kill all my apps when I'm done using them. I go from 100 at 8am and I'm at 60 by 9:30am. And I hardly use it too, just to look up information quickly and I just set my phone aside. I let it go down to 20% battery and let it charge over night. It just started doing this recently. I also keep my brightness to pretty much 0 with the auto brightness on. And it still dies fast. What can I do?
