Why is apple jumping straight to iphone 8 and not 7s and 7s plus? In the past we saw the 4s,5s,6s,3gs, etc. But why not 7s?

Can you tell me why they might be skipping the s series? Or is the iphone 8 going to be called the iphone 7s?

I don't think Apple has decided whether to call it the 7s or 8. For that matter some writers are predicting that Apple will introduce both the 7s and 8.

Apple might skip the 7s because this year's iPhone is supposed to be completely redesigned to celebrate the 10th year anniversary.

Apple jumped from the iPhone to the 3G when 3G was introduced. There was no 1s or 2 or 2s.

If the 8 is a completely new redesigned iPhone then there's no point in calling it the 7s since the s designation just means that it's the older model but with newer hardware. The shape hasn't changed from its parent.
