Why is it considered weird to use an iPod nowadays?

I have an iPod Touch 5th Generation that I use for music, and the internet. I got it in 2013 but it still works very good for music, I have a lot of songs on it and people make fun of me for using that and tell me to get an iPhone and stuff but to be honest I don't want to waste money on an iPhone, my iPod Touch works fine, I'm using it right now to post this question. Why do people think it's weird to use that?

I feel ya, I still use my 1st gen iPod touch for music, though not generally for internet. I have an Android phone that I use for most other things, but I like not cluttering it up with my 15GB, and growing, of music.

It's considered weird just because with services like Spotify and Soundcloud and, well, Youtube, few people carry around a separate device for music anymore; it all exists and can be easily streamed on our phones. I still prefer my iPod, too, though, because there have been many times where I've tried to find certain songs on friends' phones during road trips, and neither Spotify nor Soundcloud had them. Youtube probably would, but of course that uses up tons of data if your plan isn't unlimited, and sometimes your connection is a little too spotty for that out on road trips anyway.

I have always considered personal music players,
from the original cassette Walkman right through to MP3-playing phones, to be odd,
but you can still do whatever you like with them.

I can't, and wouldn't, tell you how to entertain yourself.

I don't know. Nothing is wrong with using an iPod touch.

Just because its not as popular as it once was doesn't mean its useless.

I use my Sansa Clip for podcasts because it is easier to pause than a smartphone and I need to save my phone battery for Pokemon Go. I have an iPod touch well it is my wife's old iPhone 6 without mobile internet service which I use to play Pokemon Go when my smartphone is charging. Also for Facebook and streaming.

Not really because there's no monthly fee with ipod touch. Thats a big benefit for using imessage and apps and browsing without ever even paying anything.

No there's nothing wrong with that. I used a 4g touch for years… Never paid a dime for service. My advoce is keep using it as long as possible. People don't think it's weird, they think it's redundant because Just about everyone now has a smart phone now which hold music so Ipods are a kind of obsolete.
