Why is it that my Iphone slows down when my unrelated internet is busy?

Ok, so today I was downloading something online and it was taking all the internet. Hell, even Steam couldn t get connected because the download was taking so much. So, as I can't use my computer for anything, I went on my phone. Of course I couldn t use my home internet so have my phone disconnect from the internet. But then I can't even load text files from Google Docs. I pause the download and BOOM phone, still unconnected to my home internet, is fast again.

Why is this? Is the phone auto connecting to the internet connection even when I tell it not to?

Its using up your megs. If you have say 100 megabytes available for downloading per second, and you download something on your pc, its up to you to limit it to how many megs per sec it downloads otherwise it will make the most out of your bandwidth.

If the download was over Wi-Fi, the wireless signal could've been interfering with the cell signal. Otherwise it was seriously just a coincidence.

When i'm out and about I'm usually updating my twitter and Facebook account. But, when I'm put my phone down, 3G still says I'm using it and charging me.   • Which reason would cause an iPhone to go to 'user busy'? I attempted to ring somebody and it rang a good few times - possibly 4-5 - but then said 'user busy'. Does this mean they were on the phone to somebody else or could it be a poor signal, or another reason?
