Why is my instagram connecting to the wrong twitter account?

Hi, I had an old Twitter account connected to my Instagram that I deleted. I made a new Twitter account which is connected and logged into my iPhone, but every time I try to relink my Twitter to my Instagram, it automatically re-links to my old (deactivated) Twitter account. I've tried deleting and reinstalling both apps and it still goes back to the old account when I try to link it. Does anyone know how to fix it?

I have and Iphone 4, currently up to date, etc etc. When I turn on mobile notifications on twitter I receive both the SMS/404-04 text notification and a push notification from my twitter mobile app. I would prefer to receive the notifications from my app only and not SMS. It would be easier to distinguish tweet from normal texts. Plus The SMS notifications leave my texts list messy. I can't figure out how to do this anywhere. Solutions?
