Why is my unlocked iPhone X having trouble switching to a new network?
I recently bought an iPhone X off of ebay. The seller has been working with me through this trying to help me figure it out. The phone he sold me was an iPhone X replaced by the warranty plan he had, coming with all of the additional attachments in the box. It was unlocked by ATT and he said switching the sims with a non ATT sim worked for him. Worst case scenario he said he'd refund me so that's the fallback plan.
I recently brought it to Metro and everything went good at first but the only problem it had was connecting to any network. They told me just to double check it was unlocked so I checked with some paid IMEI checker and everything looks good. I feel like I'm missing something here and I'm hoping someone is more knowledgeable than me on this topic.

I have yet to contact ATT myself but I will today.
I just recently updated the phone to IOS 12.2 which was not done before the first time I brought it.
Last time I was not told to turn off Find my Iphone
Added (2). another update:
I was trying to unlock it on ATT.com and I got this message: "Looks like the device you want to unlock is active on another AT&T account. The owner has to remove it from their account first." So I think I found my problem
Have you contact ATT to make sure the phone is good to go?
