Why is the iPhone 4 faster than the Sony Xperia J?

If they both have a 1GHz processor and 512mb of RAM why would the iPhone's performance be better and faster than the Xperia J.

See iphone is different and sony xperia is different.
its just that the os they use differ.
ios is a light and a fast os so it requires less ram and ghz.
whereas in android phone you need 2gb of ram and a quadcore proceesor to make speed comparable to iphone 5. (galaxy s4).
even the windows phone don't go above dual core processors as they also have a light weight os and so is with bb 10 os.
so ram and processor does not make performance better the os do.

1) iOS is a light OS, it doesn't task the hardware as much as Android.(Android in return has a lot more features to offer)

2) The clockspeed of the chipset is 1GHz, but it doesn't mean both chipsets are equally capable. IPhone 4 's chipset uses a better architecture than the Xperia J, thus rendering it faster.

You can use specs to compare between Android phones only.iDevices and Windows Phones may seem to have low specs, but are in fact more smooth and fast than Android phones.
Comparing specs between devices running different OS s would be fruitless.

Clearly there's just no other way to explain this better.

Well, the reason for this is because…

1) iOS is based off of Unix, which has an architecture that isn't as graphically heavy as Android interface is (based off Linux).

2) iOS doesn't use as much graphical resources as Android does

3) iOS's software is actually adapted for the hardware. Android's software however, isn't well adapted for the Xperia J.

4) iOS doesn't have true multitasking while Android does, which means that apps on Android that you leave open will continue running until you close them. IOS has them frozen until you reopen them.
