Why isn't my iMessage working?

I have an iphone 4 and today all of a sudden my phone started sending text messages instead of iMessages but in my settings it says that my iMessage is turned on so I don't know what to do!

Added (1). No the people I'm texting have iphones i'm not that dumb haha but it's not working with everyone

It's more than likely caused by either:
A) the person you're texting has no iPhone
B) the person you're texting has their iMessage turned off
C) simply something wrong with your Internet connection

Calm down. They probably don't have an iPhone, or their iMessage is turned off.

Turn off iMessage and back on again. You need credit with your service provider to activate.

Either they have iMessage turned off, something's wrong with your/their internet or iMessage is down

  • Why isn't my imessage working on my iphone 4 My imessage hasn't been working for about 5 days now. When i send a text to people who have i phones its sends as a text message. I even tried turning the imessage button one and off in the settings tab. I'm connected to a Wi-Fi as well. Can anyone help me imessage again?
  • Why isn't my imessage not working all of a sudden? I've always message people from imessage but from Wi-Fi. Then one day i accidentally turned it off and i tried turning it back on and it always says activation unsuccessful. I even tried reseting my network settings. I have iphone 4s and it does have ios 7. Any suggestions?
  • Why isn't my iMessage working Okay so I went away for a few weeks and now that I'm home I want to use iMessage on my phone again (iPhone 3) but it was off so i just thought that it turned off automatically when I went overseas but when I turned it on again it wouldn't work; it just sat there with "waiting for activation… " on the screen and not actually working.   • Why isn't my iMessage working on my iPhone 5? It's fully updated as far as iOS goes. I was on my run today and literally it just stopped working out of nowhere. Looked online for troubleshooting but Apple doesn't help AND I don't wanna screw my phone up any worse (whatever is going on) by doing something to activate iMessage again. Anybody have a proven trick that may help me get this back on track? Much appreciated!
