Why no sound on iPhone 4s after using headphones?

This is the second time I have used a headset and one the set is removed, I have no sound. I adjust the volume on the side but it just says "ringer" on the screen.
My only sound is ringing when I get a call.

I tried the thing where you play music then pull the headset out a few tines, still no sound.
It could be water damage. Check in your headphone hole and check the dot. If its red, then it's water damage. If its white, it's fine

But when I try to turn the volume up or down, it displays itself as "headphones" even though headphones aren't plugged in! And the sound only works when they are!
