Why there's a big difference between iphone6 price in canada and usa?

Canada

US

the 5.5 in iphone is 300$ = 388 cad
in canada it is 969 cad
Why?!

Exchange rates are ****

I don't understand why so many people can't understand the concept of subsidized phones.
You're getting the iPhone for just $199, because you're paying the rest of the price through your contract with a carrier.

If you buy a phone unlocked, you'll also pay the normal price. A unlocked phone will cost you less every month, but you'll have to actually pay the $649 when they hand you the phone.
A 16 GB iPhone 6 is $649 unlocked in the US and 839 cad in Canada, which is perfectly priced, if you look at exchange rates.

The Canadian site 1st lists unlocked models (which are always the most expensive route) vs the US site where you see the contract costs (which are usually the cheapest route).

16GB iPhone 6 (unlocked)
$649 USD ($839.35 CAD)
$839 CAD ($648.78 USD)
