Why won't my laptop won't find internet connections?

I was sitting on my computer one day, when suddenly my laptop lost internet connection. It hasn't been able to read any connections since. The modem/router is fine because every other device connects to our wi-fi just fine (desktop, iphone/iPad). I've already tried to solve using the methods on this site http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f137/solved-media-disconnected-message-in-ipconfig-220641.html and it doesn't work for me. I'm using a Dell Inspiron with an intel i3 core and Windows 7. Please help I need to use my laptop for schoolwork!

Added (1). I tried the answers below, but the only drivers available are for external wireless adapters, not the internal wireless adapter. The bqattery thing didn't work either. How could I tell if the Wi-Fi card is busted or not?

Seems like the Wi-Fi card may be busted. You might need a USB wireless adapter.

I know this will sound too simple, but take the battery out and put it back in. It resets the computer or something like that. I had problems with connecting to the internet on an old laptop and this did the trick.

First, I know this sounds stupid, but make sure your WLAN connecter is turned on, some laptops have switches or buttons that turn it on or off.

Next: try to google your laptop, find it on the Dell website and download the drivers that they supply for your Wi-Fi adapter.

Don't forget that you can do a system restore if necessary, you seem to know your way around googling things so I'll let you figure out the nuances of that. It's simple really, windows guides you through it.

Edit: To respond to another user's answer, he recommended you remove the battery. What I recommend is you shut down the laptop, remove the battery, then hold the power button down for about five seconds. There's a reason for this, you clear the RAM and all residual power from the machine. Boot up normally, see what happened. (Usually the first step you would try is to reboot the computer normally, clearing the RAM is typically only needed for other issues)

  • Why won't my Internet work on my Dell laptop? I have a Dell Inspiron M5030 laptop with Windows 7. The Internet was working for a while and either something came unplugged inside or some connection isn't working. My iPhone and my sisters laptop work fine. I also tried to speed up my computer and uninstalled some things. I may have accidentally uninstalled the Atheros adapter. But when I go to check, it's there she times and sometimes not. Any help? Thanks! Thanks what do I did from there? And I have a wireless connection.
  • Why isn't my internet on my laptop working? DNS server? My internet on the home computer is working and my iPhone is working as well. On my laptop it says that I'm connected to my network. However, when I try to open up Chrome or Firefox, it won't connect to any pages. Chrome keeps saying that DNS server isn't available. Does anyone know hwo to help?
  • Why does my laptop get such bad internet download speed while my Iphone gets 10 times more? My router is downstairs connected to a Windows vista PC. That PC connected with an ethernet cable gets around 90-100Mbs download speed. I did another speed test on my iphone upstairs next to my laptop, and it got 80-90 Mbs. But When I did the speed test on my laptop, it was only 10Mbs down. It's really annoying because it takes like a billion years to open youtube and everything lags.
  • Why do I have to restart my Dell laptop to reconnect to the internet? I have Wi-Fi internet with Charter but we have a lot of connection problems. My ipad and iphone automatically reconnects as soon as internet if availible again but my laptop has to be restarted for me to get back on the internet is there something I can change in the settings to fix this?
