Why won't the headphone jack on my iphone 5 work?

I've tried different headphones and none have worked.
I discovered that if i push the headphone in really hard and hold it there it will play music. Also i tried blowing into it and it made it play normally for a minute then the music started to fade.
If you know any ways to fix it or how much it could cost to fix it that would be great.

The assembly is probably shot. Here's prices and the how-to. Best luck.

  • Why isn't my iPhone headphone jack not working? My not even a month old iPhone 6s headphone jack isn't working. I will plug in my headphones and the sound isn't being played in the headphones and is still playing as it should without anything plugged in, I have tried other earbuds and headphones but they do the same. Does anyone know what's wrong?
  • Somehow, a huge piece of the headphone jack got stuck in the headphone port, and I can't find any I think the headphone type is just a normal iPhone headphone. So ground, audio, mic and some of the plastic, or whatever it is, around it, got stuck in there, and it's not super deep, probably because it's almost the whole headphone jack, but it's still in there. Someone please help! I can't find anything! It's just the headphone jack tip that got stuck for everyone else! It's a laptop.
  • Is tbere any major différence between thé iPhone 6 and the 6s? Whooppeee is Xmas again and my daughter wants new 2nd hand) iPhone… 2 years ago almost bought her 5 before i réaliséd that it was 5s she wanted ( cos thé 5 sucks?) And I don't want to screw up this year…
  • Is my iPhone the cause of my headphone jack breaking? So I have an iPhone 4S and I was using these headphones for about a year and all the sudden the jack you plug in to the phone, bent. It wouldn't work anymore. I don't know how this happened, it may not have been my iPhone. However, now I have a new pair of headphones and I just want to make sure it isn't my phone doing this, could it be my phone or is that very unlikely?
