Why won't the plug fit into the adapter?

So I brought my hairstraightener to europe and had to get an adapter. The problem is that I can't fit the plug into the adapter. It won't go in. My iphone plug goes in. Can someone help me?

If it was not working that would be an issue with voltge but if its not plugging in you should check and make sure the prongs are not bent or different sizes. The apple adapter unlike alot of other plugs have the same size prongs so if your adapter is only working with your iphone that might be the issue.

It may be due to the plug having an extra connector for ground (earth) and the plug only having two holes. If so get a different adapter and then only use the appliance in an outlet with a ground connection.

But before doing anything else, check the voltage! In most of Europe 230 V is used, while 120 V dominates in North America. Using a 120 V appliance in a 230 V outlet can be FATAL!

Most chargers for cellphones, tablets and portable computers are rated for 100-240 V and can be used on both sides of the Atlantic with just a simple plug adapter. Read on your hair straightener; approved voltage range should be printed on it. If it is not rated for 230 V or if you are not certain, DO NOT USE IT in Europe unless with a voltage converter!
