Why would you give money to a church?
Isn't that like throwing your money away
Because pastor Ted needs his 50,000 truck and mortgatge paid off. Don't you know there's a youth pastor out there who only has an Iphone 4 to contact the church that poor man! I mean we need touch screens to check children in to nursey it is needed, sharpies and white labels are not enough to idenfiy children. Churches need stadium steatig and reclining chairs you would make those poor folk sit in pews?
A church is not a building, it's a collection of people. I give money to the church, among other reasons, so that we don't have to meet in an open field in the middle of winter. Buildings are expensive to maintain and heat. A church has to spend a few thousand bucks to get the building up to date with fire codes, for example. Where do you think that money comes from? It comes from all the members giving a few bucks toward it.
I don't see that as throwing money away by any means.
I give money to my church to facilitate its activities.
Since the church's activities are ongoing, I believe I'm getting my money's worth.
The same answer would be completely valid if you asked why do people give money to the Red Cross.
Hope that helps.
They take care about the poor and children,
as well as teaching people about the word of God.
It's about as throwing your money away
as paying taxes to the state is.
No because the money is used to help and feed the poor and help the church function since churchmen have no salary with which to live.
Just a few reasons: The preacher need to put a roof over his families head and food in their stomach. A building costs money, heat, water, air conditioning, furnishings, etc. We help our neighbors across the world who need help by giving at church.
There are some beautiful historic church buildings that are badly in need of money for maintenance and reconstruction. These are part of our heritage, and really need donations to ensure they are preserved.
Asked by a person who bought an internet provider service to ask that question on this board.
I often wonder this myself. Why does God need your money?
No they help people idiot
Wtf do you care. It's obvious you don't go to church!
No, it isn't, especially if the church uses the money to do good instead of paying a preacher's salary.
Professional ministers do not establish that there's no church and kingdom of God on the earth.
There are some churches I would NEVER give to (the ones run by greedy materialistic pastors) but then there are those that care for the needy among them and give to the poor. I'll give as much as I can to a church like that
I wouldn't give it to a church. However, two of my favorite charities are ran by Christians, and even though I'm not Christian I have no problem giving money to Covenant House and the Salvation Army.
Not true in all cases. Many churches are run by their congregations and every expenditure is recorded and available to members for their review. It is that way in all Unitarian Universalist churches, as well as many Protestant and non-denominational parishes.
What are you nine? The clergyman devotes his whole life to his work. You think he lives on air? What about the church -- mortgage, insurance, electricity, gas, water, grounds, repairs, renovations, etc., etc. And the staff -- you think janitors and secretaries work for nothing?
Use the brain God gave you.
To make the preacher happy. Then he lets me do more things to help. Sometimes he will let me help take up the collection or go on visitation with him when he visits people.
Like any organiaztion that provides it's constituents with something of value, there's cost involved and donations help defray those costs. Duh?
I never do
That would depend on the church. For some churches that need to build a multi million dollar church, yes.
Churches feed millions of starving people every year and directly combat social injustice world wide. That's not throwing your money away.
It is throwing away money. A group of people coming together each week to lie to themselves about theology and keep denial of their own responsibilities. That's how Peter Popoff made money.
If a regular church is throwing away money, look back to medieval stuff. Medieval religions are a lot like how Scientology works. Modern Christianity is not nearly as bad as it used to be.
- Would you play an iphone game cause it gives you money? I have an iphone game that is going to be released in a week. I intended to give the weekly top scorer real money ($100). Would you play this game even if it wasn't too appealing?
- Would you play an iphone game cause it gives you money? - 2 I have an iphone game that is going to be released in a week. I intended to give the weekly top scorer real money ($100 and it will increase as the player base increases). Would you play this game even if it wasn't too appealing? I.e, if you are the weekly top scorer you will get paid $100. It is not a gambling game at all, it all depends on you scoring the highest score weekly.

- Which panhandler would you give money to? The black man yelling "please help, need bus fare to the shelter. Please help!" Or the Asian main with his head bowed down and his hand holding up and apple iPhone with a credit card swipe and on the screen it said "forgive me for interrupting your day, please help"
