Wi-Fi problem with Netgear Router?
I have a Netgear router. And I have 2 computers, one apple desktop and an apple laptop. However the Wi-Fi only works on the desktop. For some reason the Wi-Fi on my laptop and iphone, it doesn't want to work, when I put in the password it says "connection timeout". How can I fix this?
Netgear is a pain for wireless- In my experience the Wi-Fi can give up after a week and needs a total reboot.
Thats the first thing to try. Alternatively, your phone etc may not support the level of encryption set on the router. Its also worth setting the channel to 'Auto' to avoid interference from other wireless devices.
Try first setting WEP encryption and working your way up to WPA and WPA2, testing everything each time until you find a level of encryption. Its worth deleting the wireless connection from your devices before trying to reconnect.
I highly recommend you do not set WEP encryption unless nothing else works- it is easily hacked in minutes and is as good as having no password at all.

- What's the difference between a cheap router and a good router? Just wanted to know the difference between a cheap router and an expensive router, I know that is a very broad question, I'm just a bit confused on how a router works. Does it increase my Internet speed on multiple devices? I get 50Mb per second, Well at least that's what I pay for. I have a PS3 two iPhones and a tablet, as well as a desktop PC that is wireless. Can anyone recommend an excellent router under $150
