Will apple do anything about it?

So for Christmas, my contract ran out on my iPhone 4 and my parents got me the iPhone 5. I loved it and since the day I got it, it's had little scratches and chips all over the back part on the slate,
After researching, I've found out that its a common problem, I've had the phone since December but haven't had the chance to go to the apple store to get it seen to, I'm heading there next Saturday as there isn't one close to where I live, I'm really disappointed, but will they do anything about it?

I don't think so, it's such a common problem as you said, I don't think that they would deal with people coming all the time about chips and scratches. Also you can't take it to anywhere else as a private business repairing phones is illegal to take an iphone.

This is some thing that only Apple can answer, normally the warranty does no cover case damages or accidental damages unless you add the insurance coverage to the smart phone. It will cost you nothing to ask when you take it into the Apple store. You should have returned it immediately for a replacement.

So if you drop it and it scratches, should they fix it free because you can't take better care of it? Of course not.
