Will I be able to get my iPhone replaced?

I have an iPhone 5, white, if that matters. About 6 months ago, i dropped my iPhone and it cracked, but it has been working 100% fine since then. However, yesterday, my friend dropped my phone into a bucket of water, when i was filling up water balloons. I picked it up within seconds, and took off the case and put it in rice. I left it in the rice over night so about 11 hours.
I know I shouldn't be doing this but now, about every 1 or 2 hours I check my phone and it still hasn't worked, or have i had no sign at all of it working.
I think the cracks in the screen have made it worse because the water went into my phone.
My question is, i'm going to the apple store tomorrow, i have already booked an appointment, will they replace my phone if it wasn't me who dropped it, it was someone else?
If not, I have already checked the water damage sticker and it is red, but is there a way i can maybe convince the apple people to replace it for me for free? Or I could make up an excuse to cover up the red sticker and also get it replaced, like maybe saying the humidity or air levels have changed it or something i don't know. I will get in so much trouble by my dad if it stops working because they are really expensive, he doesn't know yet because he is away on business but back on wednesday, (today is thursday) so i have a bit less under a week. Is it possible?

Save yourself the embarrassment and don't even try at the Apple Store.

None of those faults have anything to do with any defects in manufacturing or materials. You've been careless with your phone in a way you certainly wouldn't have been if you'd paid for it with your own money. It doesn't make any difference at all that a friend was also careless with your phone as you shouldn't have let anyone else have it to begin with. If you try and cover up the water damage indicators then Apple will notice that immediately and you'll be accused of fraud (your dad will really love that!).

Take personal responsibility for your own mistakes. You'll have to tell your dad and you'll have to accept the consequences. Hopefully he has the phone covered on an all risks insurance policy, but if not then you'll have a very angry parent, and he'll have every right to be that way. Anger passes, but if you try lying to him in any way or concealing what's happened and he doesn't believe you or finds out the truth anyway, the betrayal of trust and the pain and disappointment from that will last for a very long time indeed.

All children make expensive mistakes at some point and the trick is to learn to never do it again.

I don't think the Apple store will replace it, but you could always try. What you should do is take it to a local shop that fixes phones, and see what they can do about it. They're a lot cheaper than getting a new phone, and you can just tell your dad you took it there to fix the cracks because the were bothering you.
If you get it fixed or get a new one, be sure to get a tough and waterproof case.

I'm sorry. You can't get it replaced because it was your/your friends fault not Apple's

Just wait for your dad to come home. You need to tell him, he will prob be mad but as others have said anger will pass. He might and should have insurance on your phone And all the problems will be covered under the insurance.

  • Where can I get my iPhone 4 screen replaced for cheap? I dropped my iPhone and it fell on the screen. Thee glass didn't shatter but the screen went into like a white invert looking screen with lines going through it. I live in Miami, FL and I need to get my screen replaced for less than $60.00. CAN ANYONE Please Help ME OUT?
  • When my iPhone 6 screen is replaced by apple, will the home button be replaced as well? Ever since I updated to iOS 9 on my iPhone 6, the home button has been totally unresponsive. On top of this, my phone was recently stepped on and the screen was shattered. I plan on paying the $109 to have the screen replaced from apple, but does that replace the home button too? I've heard that when the front screen panel is replaced, so is the home button/touch id.
  • What is the cheapest way to get my iPhone 4S cracked screen replaced? Poor Student needs phone screen fixed. I asked Apple but they are charging £120 for a new screen. Outrageous? Anyone any ideas?
  • Smashed back of Iphone, how much to get replaced in UK? Me being the clumsy idiot that I'm, I've smashed half of the back of my Iphone 4. I was going to go to Apple to get it replaced but I can't really afford a lot. I've done some research and people have said that its usually about £20 or nothing at all? I live in the Uk, if that makes any difference. Also, I could order replacement glass off the internet, but I'm not sure if they are legit.
