Will iPhone 5 (unlocked) purchased from US, work in India?
I'm planning to purchase iPhone 5 (Verizon unlocked) 16GB from US to use it in India. I will be using the 3G service available here. Will the phone work with other GSM carriers available here provided it's a nano-sim? My friends are saying that they purchased iPhone 4 unlocked from US, it didn't work in India.
I'm pretty sure you can find a way to unlock the phone and put it on any provider you wish in india but you first need to jailbreak it to unlock it and as of now their is no jailbeak for ios 6 the reason why the iphone 4 didn't work in india was because it is not a world phone like the iphone 4s my advice is to hold off on the iphone 5 for now until their is a jailbreak for it
Well if the Verizon iPhone 5 supports gsm bandwidths as well then it should work on any other gsm carrier. The thing is I don't know if Verizon sells unlocked iPhones. Keep in mind Verizon is a CDMA network not a gsm network like all the other carriers around the world. But if they sell an unlocked iPhone then I imagine it supports gsm bandwidths therefore it should work in India.
And for the iPhone 4 that you said didn't work in India, the iPhone 4 (gsm version) is a quadband phone so the only reason I can think of that would cause the phone not to work is because it wasn't unlocked.
- Will iphone 5 from other countries work in india? IPhone bought in other countries such as UK, USA or any other countries work in India. It may be the unlocked version. What date might it be released?
- Will iphone 4s from us work in india? My aunt is at boston[US]… If she buys a new iphone 4s with contract and ship it to me, will i be able to use it here in india by unlocking it? Do they take address proof or swap the credit card of the buyer while buying iphone 4s with contract? Please please answer…

I want to get an iPhone 4S and my friend has the iPhone 4 unlocked but i'm worried that if i get it non-factory unlocked it won't work. My uncle tried to do it a couple of months ago and apple said that if it was factory unlocked every time the phone shut off or died it would reset. I was just wondering if the same thing would happen if it wasn't factory unlocked? So if I get it unlocked everytime it will shut off it will reset? That is what i'm worried about.
