Will it stay waterproof up to 8 feet?

I'm looking at a lifeproof case for my iphone 5. They are rated up to 6.6 feet for 1 hour but do you think it will stay waterproof at 8 feet?

Lifeproof probably says 6.6 ft to be safe and I'm sure 8 ft wouldn't hurt BUT youll know if you try

Independent labs test these cases to an international standard, 6.6 feet or 2 meters, for 60 minutes. With increased water pressure on the seals, the water may begin to slowly leak inside. No way to know if Lifeproof has over engineered these cases for 8 ft.
My suggestion is to test it.
Put a few sheets of tissue paper or kleenex inside the case, seal it up, and keep under 8 ft of water for 3 or 4 hours.
If the paper stays dry, the phone should survive.

  • Why does the iPhone 4 lifeproof case only go up to 6.6 feet underwater? I'm going to buy one of these case but I'm just curious to what happens if you go further than 6.6 feet?
  • Where can I find a waterproof iPhone case? I'm looking for an iPhone 4 case that is completely waterproof. I've heard of some before and seen how they work but I have no idea where to find them. I'm looking for one that can be completely submerged underwater and still record videos or take pictures. I'm going on a trip tomorrow and would need to purchase it in a store. Does anyone know of any places that sell them and roughly how much they cost?
