Will my future kids have the same childhood as me?

When I was younger I always went out side and played with friends around my culdesac and rode my bike until like 7 on the summer days. I also played with baby dolls and barbies until I was like really old. I don't like the way the society is going right now. I don't want my kids to be obsessed with technology like most 9 or 10 year olds are today. I don't think a 10 year old needs an Iphone. If they need a phone they should have a flip phone or something less expensive.

Added (1). I feel like if I only let my kids use the computer for educational things or give them a flip phone people will call me old fashioned.

They can have any kind of childhood you teach them.
My little girl wouldnt even know how to turn on a phone, let alone use one! She has always been an active outdoor type of girl as we have taught her to do this.

Well they will probably still play with toys and dolls but technology is more likely to play a bigger part however if you don't buy them an iPhone etc they won't be using one

Well they won't have the exact same childhood as you, as things do change, I mean do we have the same childhood as our parents? No, things change. Though depending on how you would bring up your child would depend on how they behave/act/think, etc. A lot of parents now don't know how to discipline and not just give their children absolutely everything, like a new phone every month or what ever.

You are in control of your kids upbringing. They can have any childhood you want them to have. Simple.

Their childhood will depend on how and where you raise them.

Most probable I'm much older than you and never realized that this ongoing change would hurt so much.
I had raised 2 boys in accordance to what I thought would make them great and helped them to be educated in the best universities. They are very good academically but I think that I should have given them different teachings. Yes like playing with simple things.
Now I can't do anything except lament and agree with people like you to keep the sentimental values close to our heart.

It all depends on you and what you bring them up to do or not to do.

  • With major tech companies, how detailed of road maps do they have regarding future products? Such as Google or Apple. With the road maps that they keep a secret, how far out do they usually make their decisions on what to include in products. Such as, do you think Apple already has a very good idea of what the specs will be of the iPhone that's announced in September of next year or even the following year?
  • Why do so many kids have iphones, blackberrys, and smart phones? I mean little kids as young as 5 years old. It really does annoy me because they are little and don't need a really expensive phone just for emergencies. I always see them on the phones and ipods. My brother is almost in middle school and has the cheapest phone. And i'm in highschool and my phone is nowhere near the expesive phones the elementary kids have infact my phone is used so i got for free.
  • Why do 20th century born people think they had a better childhood than us 21st century borns? People born before 2000 think they had a good childhood. How stupid are they? The 20th century was the most violent century of all times so you can get killed or hurt back then. As a 2000 born, I think I can easily say the 2010s dominates the '90s, the '90s wasn't good anyway. The '90s sitcoms were stupid, the '90s music sounded like a man farting on a public restroom, movies were boring, games were stupid, no iphones/social media existed, etc.
  • What does this generations childhood look like? If you grew up in the 90s, then you remember VCR's, hit clips, passing notes in class, Etc. What does 2014s childhood generation look like? I feel like all they have is iPhones…
