Will my iPhone get corrupted if I update it?
My dad says my iPhone 6 will get corrupted and I'll lose everything if I update to the latest version because I'm still on iOS 8.1 and iOS 9.1 is out. Is this true? Do I have to do something special or can I just update like normal?
Your Dad is wrong. Installing an update will NOT cause you to lose anything. However, if you want to be super safe, you can backup your phone's contents on iTunes or to the Cloud (it's in your Settings).
Just update
No. Why would that happen?
Your dad is wrong, but what he's saying may be due to him misunderstanding what he's read or overheard.
But don't rush in for the update, many of those who have gone for iOS 9 and the very recent iOS 9.1 have been reporting very significant bugs, often affecting the ability of the phone to send and receive SMS and MMS and also with them having problems with email. Others have reported much shorter battery life.
The latest versions don't really offer you any significant benefits on an iPhone 6 unless you own an Apple Watch.
Nothing will be corrupted if you update.
- What free program do I use to recover some corrupted pictures in my computer? I had transferred pictures from my memory card and iphone 5 in a USB and somehow that USB got a virus. The pictures taken from the memory card are corrupted and do not open, the iphone pictures in my USB just plain vanished. Is there any way I can retrieve the pictures?
- Update stopped during ios update own iphone now phones broke I connected my iPhone 4 to my computer (iTunes) and started doing the update through iTunes. About five minutes into the update iTunes in my computer stops working, causing the update to of course stop working. Now my phone will not turn on. On the screen it is black with the 'charge symbol' as if it were low on battery and an iTunes symbol. I have tried turning my phone off and on, but of course it didn't respond.
- New iOS 6 update, find my iPhone update? I don't like the new find my iPhone update is there a way to change back to the old find my iPhone but keep the new update? It's not showing locations like it used to and won't even how me major boroughs like Croydon. Streets are difficult to see, much smaller picture. General *** compared to the older version.
- Is the iOS 6.1 update on iPhone 3 safe to update? On my first iPhone there were problems, and the update didn't help it wiped out everything and among other things had to get a new iPhone. The iPhone I have now works, so should I risk this update? It's a 3GS.
