Will there be an alternative to camera LED flash?
Nightvision using Infrared or thermal imaging.
Any thing else?
Maybe the possibility of removing such accessory from the phone once it has enough megapixels and better camera sensors that can work in the dark without any assistance of a light.
Cameras already exist which can use IR illuminators instead of flash. Note that IR and thermal imaging are the same.
A lot of the earlier Sony digital cameras had a feature called "nightshot", and there are some dSLRs modified to record in IR. But it always involves removing a filter from the front of the sensor which is specifically designed to block IR. The problem is that IR focusses differently to visible light, so an image which is sharp in visible light will look unsharp if it also incorporates IR.
The removable filter mechanism which the Sony cameras used basically flips the filter out of the way of the sensor so it adds extra bulk and complexity to a camera intended to be as small and reliable as possible. But there's an additional problem in that accidentally exposing the image sensor to bright light with the IR filter removed can easily damage the sensor.
In summary, adding an IR capture facility adds cost, adds bulk, reduces reliability, produces inferior image quality and can result in camera damage. Manufacturers simply aren't going to include it on that kind of camera. The vast majority of users have no use for that facility so manufacturers will continue to limit the feature to certain cameras intended for enthusiasts and professionals.
Sensor sensitivity in low light is being pushed harder all the time so that they can produce usable images with less light, but light will always be needed to make photographs and increased sensitivity just results in grainier images. The other area of improvement is to enable cameras to capture more light to begin with, so that's why cameras such as the one introduced on the iPhone 5s has a large maximum aperture of f/2 and I'm sure there are other phone cameras which have a similar feature. It's also feasible to increase the sensor size as that allows higher sensitivities to be used with less "image noise", but that means that the phone cameras will have to be physically larger at a time when consumers want thinner phones.
- Which camera is better: An old General Imaging x500 Digital Camera or an iPhone 7 front camera? It looks like an iPhone only offers 7 MP while this camera boasts 16 MP but this camera is so old and looks worse at least on its own screen. I'm confused
- My LED Flash light for my iPhone 4S is stuck ON I put it in a water proof case today and i noticed a bit of water got through, at first the sound didn't work and it wouldn't charge but i fixed that, and now the flash is stuck on, even when i completely turn my phone off, and my phone won't connect to iTunes so I can't even restore it, I've tried everything:'
- My iPhone flash LED light won't turn off Dropped my phone in water but quickly retrieved it. Put it in rice for 48 hours. Almost everything works fine but the light that won't turn off. My iPhone 4S is jail broken with evasion. I've already tried resetting and taking pictures with the flash on.
- Jailbreak Iphone - Is there a great! Alternative to Installous and Hackulous? I know its been awhile since the shut down of Installous and Hackulous, is there an alternative to these apps? I also want to get back the "thingy" that allowed me to get free- in-app purchases.
