Would it be a bad idea to get an iphone 4?

I can get it for free, but is it too old? Will I not be able to do things on it that I could on another phone? What are the pros and cons of getting it?

Get it, I still know people with flip phones.

I have one and it's very good, third best phone in the world (in my opinion) so: P

The only thing I'd be in consideration of would be the space-- if you are getting an 8GB it's not going to be very long before the device is filled. I know people who are still the original owners of their 4's and have not upgraded yet to new phones, they use Instagram and games and it all works OK for them.

Another thing to mention is you won't have SIRI and won't get iOS7 when it is actually launched as it is geared towards the newer devices Apple has to offer. Being as the 4 is about 2-3 years old it will not see any updates most likely past 6.1.3. At present, this is not a problem as most apps are still supported, but in the future the phone may become obsolete. I remember when I had the iPhone 3G and had it updated to 3.1.3 how everything worked good but when ios4 was released, I was not able to download it, had problems with my phone working with sites and apps as they were designed for the newer software updates, and that's what led me to get the 4S. Now I have an Android, and the good thing about them is that they haven't become obsolete yet. Google pushes the updates on them and all apps work with them.

No. Getting iOS 7, nice build, great app support, etc.

For the record though its not entirely free. The phone, yes. The plan, no.

It's fast and a smartphone. Better than nothing.

  • Would it be a bad idea to buy an iPhone 6 now? I have a Galaxy S5 and I want to switch butI don't know if I should wait for the next iPhone in the fall, assuming one is released in the fall.
  • Would be a bad idea to buy the iphone 4 now? I can't afford the iphon 5/s, but I did initially want the a samsung galaxy first. Anyway, I like to watch movies, listen to music and generally surf the web a lot. I also like to download a lot of apps and take pictures. Would the iphone4 be significantly inadequate now. If it helps I'm 18 and my parents can't afford and think it's morally incorrect to get me a iphone 5/s, but I'm not complaining.
  • Used iphone on ebay, good or bad idea? Thinking of buying a unlocked iphone on ebay. Is this a good idea? Will I have probs with activation? Can I use straight talk with it?
  • ITunes update idea, good or bad? Apple products are getting stolen and being sold for profit. But some iPhones have passwords and to remove is to restore backup from iTunes. My idea is if any iTunes account is on the phone, when you restore it will ask for password of the account on the phone. Rendering it useless for the thief or thieves. Is this idea good or bad? Or maybe it already exist?
