Would it be a hassle to take a laptop to Las Vegas? Would I be ok with just iphone?

Going to Las Vegas this week and not sure if I should bring along a laptop or if it would just be a hassle. For one thing on the flight and then at the hotel room. I have an iphone as well I was wondering if I should just bring that.

The whole point of a laptop is that you can take it where you're going. What's wrong with yours? Is it more then 5 pounds? I say bring it just in case.

Bringing a laptop anywhere, if you're flying, is a hassle. The TSA still makes you take off your shoes and take a laptop out of its case unless it's in a "TSA friendly" special case you can buy… But you still have to set it on the conveyor belt separately. Not only is it a hassle but there's a risk of theft. If you set off the metal detector or are selected for special screening of any kind, your stuff comes off the conveyor belt but you may not be there to pick it up. I always pay attention to where my stuff is on the belt (the three main areas are entering the X-ray machine, inside the X-ray machine, and leaving the X-ray machine) and always remove all metal objects from myself so I can keep up with the conveyor belt.

There are pay by the minute computer terminals all over the Las Vegas strip area, which further reduces the need to bring a laptop. There are public terminals in the food court at Fashion Show Mall and in the lobby of most of the resorts, usually near the pay phones. You pay with cash or credit card or debit card, normally a $5 minimum for 15 minutes, and add time as needed. The terminals are also attached to printers so you can print your boarding pass for the return flight.
