Seems rather silly

Why would I be that stupid?

Only if it was to buy a brand new one at a large enough discount that compensated for the time I'd invested in waiting.

I presently earn about £30 an hour after deductions. But my lowest overtime rate is about £40 an hour. So if waiting for, say, four hours got me a £120 discount I'd be better off working an extra three hours instead to get that £120. Especially as I don't then waste time going to and from the phone shop.

In reality I'd wait about six months, by which time the usual price drops would get me a discount for no extra effort at all, and by then all the fools with more money than sense will have discovered most of the hardware and software bugs allowing Apple to remedy the worst of them.

I have serious doubts that Facial Recognition will work as reliably and be as foolproof and secure as Apple are claiming, and believe it will be a while before it's as reliable as the fingerprint sensing home button. So I definitely won't be rushing to buy an iPhone X.

Nope cause id never spend that much money on one

Some do it for the experience.
Others because they want the phone that bad.
