2 3.5mm inputs into 1 output. Will this setup work?

I want to take 2 audio sources and feed them into 1 pair of headphones

IIm thinking of using this 3.5mm splitter

https://www.amazon.com/...00MXN9ZQM/" class='ext_link'>https://www.amazon.com/...00MXN9ZQM/

along with a fem to fem adapter for the single end and two double male 3 foot cords to connect the female ports to my devices.

My end goal is to have my Iphone and my laptops in-game audio playing to my normal 3.5mm jack headphones.

If this setup won't work do any of you know of a setup that will allow this to function.

i would prefer not to use a typical gaming headset that can do this since its so bulky to carry my current headset and external sound card to make it work, and a optical cable and then it has about 3 miles of 5 different cables (well 12 feet but still) so a simpler 3.5mm combiner setup would be best.

What you need is a mixer. Y cables are only used to split a single output into two inputs not the other way around.

You will need some 3.5mm to RCA adapter cables for this to work. Use a mixer with a headphone jack (most mixers have one).

  • What's the pinout from RJ-11 to 3.5mm? I'm making an adapter for a PCMCIA modem that connects it's 2-pin RJ-11 jack to an iPhone's 3.5mm headset jack, so I can make dial up connections on the road. The problem I'm encountering is the former's lack of a ground connection, so I don't know what I should connect to what. Any ideas? I'm leaving for a trip in a day or two, so any pointers would be appreciated.

  • How to make my own 3.5mm dual audio cable? I want to make my own 3.5mm duel sided audio jack/cable out of old cables or headphones. Only need it one sided though so I guess it's now a dual. I want it so I can connect one side to sterio speakers by wires then I can plug the other side into my iPhone. Without buying the cord and cutting it how could I do this?
