Why is there an E instead of 4G?
I have a jailbroken iPhone 4S. And I have 4G on it. I downloaded an app which turned off my cellular usage. When I turned it back on its not 4G it's an E next to where it says ATandT. How do I make It say 4G again.
IPhone 4S is not a 4G phone, it's a 3G phone. If you set up the APN right, it'll show 3G but never 4G. Jailbreaking the phone and using such apps will only show 4G but the hardware is only for 3G so you'll get 2G or 3G even though it shows 4G.
E stands for Edge which means can't get good enough signal for 4G or 3G and goes to the lowest speeds which is 2G
It may take time to regain 4G access. Also why would you need an app to do that? You could do that on the phone without any jailbreak or extra app.
E by the way would be for EDGE basically 2G.
Try checking your APN settings.
Settings > General > Cellular > Cellular Data Network
make sure they are what they need to be, and reboot if necessary.

I did not even realize there was a notes folder until I accessed my yahoo mail through the computer. This is the first time I have had this to happen.
- Why does my iPhone 5 say 3G instead of 4g? I recently got my iPhone 5 for Christmas, and it's just now the beginning of April. It's always said 3G, instead of 4g, which I thought was normal. I was with a couple of friends yesterday, and she had a white iPhone 5 just as me, except she had AT&T and hers said 4g. I have sprint. Is there a way to get 4g? Does it cost money to have 4g? Everywhere I have went with no Wi-Fi it has always said 3G, never 4g. I want 4g though!
