Activating the iphone three?

I've lost my basic phone from Verizon and my friend gave me his old iphone 3. How the heck do I activate it? Can I unlock it without a service? I don't care if I can't call or text but I want the other features.

You need to have service on it or at least service to activate it. The easiest route would be to buy an iPod touch but the phone will not work without an ATT sim card.

  • Why isn't my iphone 3GS activating? Ok, so my iPhone 3GS was unlocked on 5.1.1, and it was jailbroken. I wanted to factory unlock it, so it will be 6.0.1 and still unlock. When the people said my unlock was ready, they told me to update it to 6.0.1. When I tried setting it up and activate it, it won't work. It says we're unable to continue with your activation at this time. Any help would be appreciated.
  • Verizon iPhone 5 not activating? I received my new iPhone 5 today and it keeps saying that it isn't activating and to call the Verizon customer support number if the problem persists. Unfortunately it is after business hours and I can't call them until tomorrow. Is there anything that I can do to activate it now? I've set up the iPhone and backed it up and turned off my other activated phone that this one is replacing and it is still not activating. Any ideas?

I just got my iphone 5-16GB from online via Virgin Mobile Canada, now that I'm trying to activate my phone, it's asking for the IMEI number, and when I type it, it's not matching with my Iphone. It's recognizing Iphone 5 64gb phone, should I continue activating my phone with the recognized phone? Please help, i don't know what to do, like is this a big deal that it recognize my iphone as 64gb not 16?
