Any risk with third-party Lightning cables?
Other than the possibility that they are poorly built and will fail, is there any risk to my iPhone from the use of aftermarket Lightning cables?
I read someplace that the authentic cables are more than just a set of wires and connectors - that there's some circuitry built in - true?
No, there shouldn't be any problem.
It's still up for debate whether or not it's possible for a third-party cable to damage your phone. All I can say is that in my personal experience, I've bought a cable for extremely cheap from China and a few weeks later, the battery exploded and I had to get a new battery. Whether or not the two are connected, I'm not sure. But from now on I don't take the risk and stick with Apple regulated chargers. They end up lasting longer anyways. Unless you're looking at higher priced cables then that's a different story.
- Why is it called third party? Who are the first and second party? So like in iPhone, you are not allowed to use a third part charger because it is not supported but I was wondering if there's a first party or a second party charger that exists?
- What Lightning Cables are Compatible with my iPhone 5s? Since some Lightning Cables are not certified by Apple, are there some Lightning Cables other than Apple that work on iPhone 5s?
- Third party iPhone charger? How fast can it cause damage? I have always known using third party no name iPhone chargers can wreck your iPhone and stop it from charging properly, so I avoided. But I plugged my iPhone into my friends charger which I realized after was not an apple charger, it was only plugged in for 5-10 minutes before I removed it- could it possibly have already done some damage to my phone? I can't tell if my phone is charging slower or if I'm worrying myself over nothing!
- Nightshift for iPhone 5C? Third party app recommendation? Ok so as you may know, iOS 9.3 came with the new nightshift feature which makes your screen more yellow allowing for better sleep. However, this feature is not included for iPhone 5C and down (5, 4S). Is there a third party app from the internet that allows the same effects? No jailbreaking required please. Link if possible. I do have a Mac if needed.
