Apple ID non-existent but asking for the password to it still on iphone?

Added (1). This is my mums old phone, she deleted her apple ID but it somehow stayed connected with the Iphone.

I have restored the iphone, but it is still asking for the password to the account, i kept typing in the password but it said 'incorrect' and then locked me out and gave me a link to reset the password. But when i put the ID the phone is asking for the password for into the reset password section, it says it is not an Apple ID i've put it.

Any ideas on what to do?

The problem is that your mum didn't restore the iPhone to wipe all of her data and settings from it before cancelling her Apple account. So for you to wipe the phone and start afresh you need to enter credentials which no longer exist. Without them the phone will be unusable junk.

The answer is for your mum to try and reactivate her old Apple account. She may need the assistance of Apple Customer Care to do so. With an active account the iPhone linked to it can then be completely reset back to factory settings (Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings) as the process will require her to enter her Apple ID and Apple password.

If that fails then Apple can reset the phone for a fee at one of their stores, but will require absolutely incontrovertible proof that your mum is the legal owner of the iPhone. Typically that may mean producing a purchase receipt detailing the phone serial number or IMEI number with her name and address on it plus two other forms of identification.

  • Why does my iPhone keep asking for my Apple ID password? I have a 5c and I'm on IOS8. I went on it today and it just randomly asked for my password. I entered it but nothing happened/downloaded. I was just wondering if it was a glitch or something.
  • My iPhone keeps asking me for my apple I. D password? I changed my apple Id and password. Whenever I go to the App Store from my iPhone it asks for my new password to my new apple id which is good. But at random times when I'm texting or something, the old Id will pop up and asks me to type in my password. I don't know how to fix this but it's driving me crazy. :/
  • Is tbere any major différence between thé iPhone 6 and the 6s? Whooppeee is Xmas again and my daughter wants new 2nd hand) iPhone… 2 years ago almost bought her 5 before i réaliséd that it was 5s she wanted ( cos thé 5 sucks?) And I don't want to screw up this year…
  • Iphone with no password asking for it? I just set up my mothers new iPhone 5s for her, and I only set up the fingerprint pass code for her (obviously using her finger). I restarted the phone, and now it's asking for a digit password that I didn't put in and my mother knows nothing about. Do these phones have default pass codes, or is it some random glitch?
