Bought Iphone 4 at Verizon. Can I switch carriers?

I would like to switch my Iphone 4 from Verizon to Sprint. Is this possible or is it locked to Verizon? Any other options?

Added (1). Update: I also do not have any contract of any sort with Verizon. I can cancel with them at any time I please. I'm simply unsure if the Iphone 4 is locked to that carrier specifically.

Well you aren't going to be able to switch until your contract is over or until you pay the fees to get rid of your contract. Hope you can get your problem resolved good luck!
