Can an unactivated sim card be used to set up an iphone without service?
So I restored my iphone 5 as if it was new, and now it says i need a sim card. Can I just put in an UNACTIVED sim card and continue to use my iphone without any service? In other words like a iPod touch
You can put an Inactive SIM card. Just to activate the iPhone via iTunes or over Wi-Fi… Once you get to the iPhone home page… Remove the SIM card and you can still use it like an iPod or make calls using Wi-Fi over Talkatone, Vonage to tons of other Apps…
So ya, the short answer is. SIM card is just needed to activate the iPhone. Then you can remove it and keep using as iPod.
- Will a verizon iphone 4s show that you have service even if unactivated? I have verizon iphone 4s… There's "no service" showing in the top left corner. The iphone does in fact have NO service from verizon because i didn't pay any for it but my question is would the phone have service showing there regardless of if i'm able to use it?
