Can I Put a contract sim into an iPhone? - 1

I have a mini sim card with a contract on o2. I still have 2 years on the contract but i don't want the phone i have with it. Can i buy an iphone and put the sim card in and still use the contract or is the contract locked to the phone i have in the contract? Also if i need to change to a micro sim card will o2 do this for me or is it violating my contract

Nope, just walk into any phone shop and ask them to cut down the sim to fit the iPhone. They will do it for free. It is not violating your contract as long as you are still paying for the contract you agreed to pay for the phone from the contract. Other than that, as long as you pay what you agreed the company don't care. Oh and make sure you get an iPhone that is unlocked or locked onto your contract network! Hope I helped!

If you buy an unlocked, contract-free iPhone (over here between 400 and 1000 €, depending on type and storage capacity), no problem. As for the SIM, just ask the O2 hotline. Usually, they'll send you a micro SIM for your contract at no charge (while invalidating the old SIM).

Yes, Any SIM from O2 will work in any O2 locked phone,
or of course any compltetely unlocked phone.
(so you could get any O2 PAYG phone and use it for example)

And yes, they will happily change you SIM for a different size if you need to,
if you are not buying a new phone from them, they may charge a small ammout (5-10 pounds), but you could also just get a PAYG SIM and ask to put that SIM card on your contract 'as a replacement'

Yes you can, I have just done what you want to do. I had a contract sim with Vodafone but I owned the phone and didn't want it anymore. I bought an unlocked Iphone 4s online went in to the vodafone shop they gave me the micro sim free of charge and transferred all of my account info on to the micro sim @ no charge and away I went, all you need to do then is go home and sync your phone with Itunes which is free and your away. Just be aware that an Iphone locks on to the network you choose so once you have synced it with o2 it will be locked to that network until you get it unlocked, your network will normally do this for you free of charge when requested. Have you tried contacting O2 and asking if you're entitled to an iphone upgrade? Hopes this helps. ( buying an iphone was a fantastic move so much better than the nokia and samsungs i've had in the past )

The iPhone would either have to be locked to O2 or unlocked. If you need to change the SIM, I'm not sure if O2 would do it for you.
