Can i unlock my iphone 5 under contract?
My service provider tricked me into getting home phone along with cell phone service claiming i would pay the same monthly bill whether i chose to get home phone or not. I figured to save a little cash i would just cancel my cox home phone. Turns out they lied to me and are actually charging me $25 extra for home phone service which i did not need but only got since i was told it wouldn't make a difference in the bill. I'm still under contract but i was wondering if i could avoid paying them and just unlock my iphone 5 version 6.1.3 to another carrier, is this possible under contract? I don't plan on paying them until they send me to collections for cheating me.

There are two types of unlocking- software unlocking and offically unlocking. One thing you need to know is, unlocking means registering officially to Apple. Which service provider do you use? If you are using AT&T or Verizon you are in luck. The cheapest/most hassle-free (relatively speaking… ) way is through an IMEI unlock where you give someone your IMEI (unique ID of your phone) over the internet, and your phone will be magically unlocked in 24-48 hours. It's safer than it sounds really - and starts at lower than $5.00 on eBay so it's worth it IMO. Just look up "iPhone 5 IMEI unlock" on eBay and pick someone with good reviews.
However this doesn't do away the fact that you are still "under contract" with your provider, FYI.

At AT&T - to unlock iphone, it should not be under contract and your account should be updated. Although they provide unlock to qualifying clients. The only requirement is that customers profile should be updated and their gadget can't be connected with a present and effective term commitment with AT&T unlock client account
