Can I use my personal hotspot (on iPhone) to connect my laptop to the internet?
My internet connection is terrible from my Comcast modem and so I turned on my personal hotspot that I have on my iPhone and now I'm using that Wi-Fi for my MacBook.
Will my data usage increase? I pay an extra $10 for personal hotspot on my AT&T bill, so I thought that they won't charge me for using PH because I already have it on my bill…
They are separate services. The hotspot simply allows you to hand out your internet service to whomever. Data charges set you a limit, once you pass it, they reduce your data speed but you can still give out internet.
It will use data, so if you do video streaming or downloading any videos, you may want to keep an eye on your data usage. If you go over the amount they allow per month they will charge you extra.
The T-Mobile plan I have that allows my phone to be used as a hotspot does not charge me extra (like AT&T and Verizon do) if I go over my monthly limit. T-Mobile just slows it from 4G to 2G.
- Will it cost me if I use 'personal hotspot' from my iphone to my laptop? I have an iphone, and my Wi-Fi just went down so I was wondering if it would cost to use that 'personal hotspot' thing onto my laptop because I want to watch netflix, and in not doing it on my phone (screens small) Oh and I have unlimited data (3G) and my providers I think are EE.

Ill play cod bo2 almost daily and my xbox will connect to my mobile hotspot on my iphone 4s fine, but out of no where it will lag out and disconnect me from xbox live, its not a hardware issue everything connects normally, full bars and everything the phone still lets me get on the internet, but my xbox will not, why D:?
- Using Personal Hotspot with my DELL Laptop? Ok, so this idea just hit me. If I turn on the "Personal Hotspot" on my iPhone 5c (with 3G service on), and connect it to my computer via USB, will it make my laptop internet faster as well? The 3G service is So much more faster on my iPhone 5c than on my DELL Laptop! So will this help my laptop if I select my iPhone on the internet connection?
