Can my Sprint iPhone 5 be flashed to Metro PCS?

I recently got a iPhone 5 and I want it to be used with Metro, is it possible?

Perhaps.

T-Mobile bought Metro so they will soon be a GSM provider.

A flashed phone will work on their CDMA network but once T-Mobile shuts it down in 2015 a flashed phone will no longer work on GSM networks.

Since the iPhone 5 is an international device, it can (illegally) be unlocked to work on GSM networks but I'm not sure that a flashed CDMA device can be unlocked.

Your best bet is to stay with Sprint.

  • Possible to flash a sprint iphone 4s to metro pcs or use it on straighttalk? Wondering if there's any way to flash a sprint iphone 4s to metro pcs? I hear they are both cdma networks. Any info if it works with all things like texting, calling, and data? What about using it on straight talk? Can you just buy that mini sim card and pop it in? I've seen the slot on the sprint iphone 4s. Can anyone give me info on both services? Much appreciated.
  • Metro pcs sim card on Sprint iPhone 6? Hi, I recently switched carriers and realized that my metro pcs sim card does not work with my old iPhone. I have another iPhone that is locked to Sprint, and I heard metro is just a service under Sprint. Will this card work in the phone?
