Can my stolen iPad be tracked down without Find My iPhone app?
Needless to say, my iPad 2nd generation with Wi-Fi was stolen out of my purse which I had stupidly left unattended at work. I have the serial number. I was just wondering if the police will be able to track down the culprit with the serial number (assuming they have to plug it into iTunes to use!)… Not feeling good about the outcome, but seeking for people with experience/knowledge in this area.
Police will most likely do nothing.
call apple and tell them, they will block it and get a ip address then the police can make an arrest.
If your phone is still turned on, location services active, and you have previously given other people to find you with the Find Friends app, then they might be able to track it on their device. The device needs to be signed into a hotspot or have cellular data active for it to work.
You phone company can deactivate the sim card, and you can deauthrorise access to your iTunes account on that device through iTunes
- Tracked stolen iphone, can the police help retrieve it? On Monday night my phone went missing at a nightclub, I'm unsure whether it was lost or stolen however a couple of other things went missing from my bag. I know now that the phone has been taken, using iCoud and "find my iphone" I tracked my phone to a house on a road near to the club, so someone has obviously found/taken my phone home with them. Are the police able to do anything about this as i know the location of my phone?
- Stolen iPhone 5. Can it be tracked? My iPhone 5 is off and might be on airplane mode when turned on. I can't use Find My iPhone because it is off but is it also because it might be on airplane mode? Also, it says on my itunes that the last iCloud back up was at 12:47 am. Which is 10 hours after my phone was stolen. What does that mean? Could iCloud still back up when turned off?

- My iphone was stolen. Find my iphone tracked it 15 miles from my house. Should I call police? It happened two weekends ago and I don't think the person ever turned it on until today but I got an email saying it was turned on, lost mode was activated so it locked itself, and it has tracked it to a city about 15 miles away from my house at an apartment complex. I don't think it would be necessary to go there and start knocking on doors. Should I contact police? Its an iphone 4.
