Can the police help get my money?
I was offered to buy an IPhone 4s for 100$. When the girl who had it came to us, my girlfriend looked at the phone. It said insert SIM. The girl told her it just needed a SIM, it was unlocked, and nothing was wrong with it. Well, my boss came up to me and asked if I wanted to use his SIM to check it out after she had sold it to me and left the store. So I did, and it turns out the phone was still locked to another persons Apple ID and even with a SIM I can't access the phone. It's just trash practically. Then we found out (not 100% sure on this one though) it's an IPhone 4 not 4s. I'm really upset about this. This happened only a few hours ago and I pleaded in a nice way for a refund but eventually was ignored. I'm unsure what to do because I don't know that the cops would do anything about my money. We have multiple witnesses of the transaction and what she said and it is also on camera plain as day. Is there anyway to retrieve my money?
People selling things only deliver BIG things, delivering a phone which for some reason you didn't switch on and try is for criminals, that's a $100 lesson in how not to buy a used phone, there are plenty of places that will unlock it, any phone without a charger is also suspect
So you bought a stolen phone and want a refund… You are funny.
You can report it as fraud to the police, and as what's likely a stolen phone.
You're going to look a bit stupid (if not guilty) for thinking you were getting such a great deal on a legitimate phone. It's not clear how you were "offered" this phone to begin with.
Your money is almost certainly gone. The main question is if they can pursue the person criminally.
No, you buy a stolen phone. You aren't get money
To put it simply, NO.
Next time you run across a deal to good to pass up… Pass it up. And stop acting like you didn't think it was stolen, no one will buy that story from you
Do you know the person that sold it to you? I would go back to them and tell them you want your money back. If you don't know them, then obviously the scammed you. These are things you should have checked before buying.
Gee, do you think that might have been intentional that it "accidently" had no sim so you couldn't check it?
- Tracked stolen iphone, can the police help retrieve it? On Monday night my phone went missing at a nightclub, I'm unsure whether it was lost or stolen however a couple of other things went missing from my bag. I know now that the phone has been taken, using iCoud and "find my iphone" I tracked my phone to a house on a road near to the club, so someone has obviously found/taken my phone home with them. Are the police able to do anything about this as i know the location of my phone?

- Help ebay buyer threatened to report me to police? I buy and sell iPhones. I buy from craigslist, and resell on ebay. Now the problem that I had was that the phone worked for 3 months, but now it is locked. The iPhone was new when I sent it and now the buyer wants his money back. Ebay and paypal no longer protects him. Will the police do anything? I sold this item without no intensional of scamming anyone or to take advantage.
