Can you pretend to lose your iphone and replace it with insurance?

Just curious. I'm not gonna do it cos I don't even have an iphone but just wondering if you did hide your phone and say it was stolen would they replace it if you had insurance? Cos then you could just sell your other phone and keep the new one couldn't you: I

It would be insurance fraud and I think they would pay the money back that was lost or stolen

Yes you can. It's also called insurance fraud and the insurance company will nail you as hard as they can if they find out about it

All smartphone cellular carrier services have anti-fraud procedurals in place when someone reports their smart phone being lost or stolen.

The smart phone reported lost or stolen is rendered pretty much useless--even if another SIM card is inserted--and in many cases, the phone's GPS locator features greatly help law enforcement locate the lost / stolen smart phones.

One cellular carrier even sends a remote code that allows the phone's camera to automatically take / send pictures, hoping to further aid in it's being found… Or identifying any thieves.

And All cellular phone carriers have severe LEGAL procedurals for ANYONE found guilty of insurance fraud.
