Car cigarette lighter not working?
I know this sounds weird but I have a vw with a 12v outlet and my phone charger works for my iPhone because the silver top broke off and the spring is out but when I plug my gps charger in it doesn't work this is my 4th GPS charger so it's not that… Any reason why this is happening not sure if it's a blown fuse considering my phone still charges
Part of your i phone charger is stuck in the power socket
this is why the broken i phone charger makes contact but the broken bit prevents the satnav charger making contact
If the phone charger works in the lighter socket then there's nothing wrong with the socket, your problem must be in the GPS plug or wiring. I have no idea what you mean by "the silver top broke and the spring is out". Are you talking about the lighter socket or the iPhone plug? Its not a blown fuse.
Get tweezers then look inside cigarette lighter and take out what should not be there then should be ok.
Hi. It may be the contact point inside the lighter socket, best to check it with a long nose plier, slowly to see if there are any bits left inside, but be sure that power is off, so as not to cause short.
Have you checked the fuse in the charger?
- Will I get electrocuted if I touch the inside of the car lighter? My brother borrowed my car and smashed my iphone connector into the lighter hole, breaking the iphone connector into pieces. He pretending he didn't do it and has left fixing it to me. Now a part of the connector is stuck inside, if I stick pliers or tweezers into it while the car is off, will I be okay? Or do I have to disconnect the battery? I don't know anything about this kind of thing!
