Charge 3.7v 2760mah li ion battery with a 5.5v 1500mah output from a solar charger?

I have this solar charger i got on ebay and it seems to just overheat and not charge the phone at all. Maybe a little but then its dead immediately without charging very much at all.

the solar charger charges a li ion battery inside it and outputs to usb at 5.5 volts and 1500 mah

the battery i'm trying to charge is a droid bionic bw8x 2760mah 3.7v battery

i think this charger is made for iphones or something. I notice that the charger i'm using for the phone on the wall is 5v 1A… Why does this charger not charge my phone and how would i modify it so that it works? A resistor? What resistor…

The problem here is that your phone doesn't recognize the solar charger as an original charger and stops the charging process! See if there's a possibility to low the output of the solar charger to 5V(not by using a resistor but by adjusting the voltage regulator inside the solar charger)!

  • Will this solar charger charge iPhone 4S? I have a small solar panel I got for free from Total Ethiopia. They gave it to me with a rechargable lamp. The panel has an output of* * Pmax - 1.3w * Imp - 236mA * Vmp - 5.5V The panel has different adapters to charge different phone. It charges all phones in my house (Nokia X2, Nokia 1200, Samsung Galaxy S and S II and Nokia 6300.) but i have an iPhone and there's no adapter for it. The Iphone charger output reads 5v___1A. What modification can i do? Will it charge my iphone?

  • What is the best solar charger for backpacking trips? I just got a Goal Zero Nomad 3.5 from REI but i'm not too sure that i'm gonna like it. I'm going on a 9 day camping trip in North Carolina and will need to keep head lamp, iphone, and GoPro charged. I'm not too sure that this little thing can do it. I do want something small and lightweight so its easy to carry on a backpack. Any suggestions?
