Do I have to remove the SIM card from my iPhone 5 before selling it?

I'm going to sell my iPhone 5 and I already signed out of iCloud and deleted all of the content. I also already upgraded, but I wanted to know if I should still remove the sim card? And will the new owner have to buy another one?

The new user will have to get a new SIM card, because YOUR SIM card is tied to YOUR account and phone number, and should be deactivated as soon as you activate your new SIM card. If not, just cut it in half.

  • Will simple mobile's prepaid sim card work on the iphone 8 they are selling? I'm thinking of buying a used iphone 8 from simple mobile, but i heard that it might not work and that it might be locked to a different carrier
  • Which is better: selling on amazon or selling on ebay? I have an individual seller account and I've noticed that my products sell much faster or ebay. However, I sold two iphones. My final sale fee $1100. However, ebay charged me a final sale fee of $135 Then I was charged $40 by paypal Then I paid $60 total to ship both items. On my amazon account I sold 1 phone. The phone cost $180 Amazon took out $30 Shipping cost $10 So I made $140
  • Should I remove my sim card before or after I factory reset my my iphone 6s plus? Want to factory reset (I know how to) my unlocked iphone 6s plus for troubleshooting purposes and start from scratch as a new device or maybe I ll sell it if i change my mind. Anyways my question is do i take out the sim card before or after i factory reset. I don't care if factory resetting with the sim will cause any changes to it since i have backed up whatever i need including contacts.
  • Selling an iphone with sim card? I bought a brand new iphone 5c from Verizon and it came with a pre-installed Sim card. I would like to sell the phone as I don't really need it any more but my question is, should I sell it with the sim card in it? I would rather not open the phone to prove it's brand new. There should be no information on the card since I haven't opened it, but i'm not sure.
