Does the bank keep record of cashed checks?
I'm a technology person, and over the years I've accumulated multiple computers, iPhones, iPods, etc. I'm thinking about selling all my used products on this website called "AppleShark.com". They give you the option of sending you a check as payment, and I was wondering, what exactly does the bank keep track of when you cash or deposit a check? Do they only see that you cashed/deposited a certain amount of dollars? Do they keep record of who the check was from?
I'm just wondering because I have a LOT of apple products and won't it look suspicious if I keep on receiving checks from selling things? Like they might think I'm stealing and then selling things for money? So yeah… Just wondering if the bank keeps track of who you get your checks from.
To answer your question yes banks keep records of everything that is deposited or withdrawn from your account. The down side is that most banks only keep the actual paper work for a certain amount of time. However, your bank should have a program that they can pull the transactions up on.
Obviously yes, they have the scanned image of every check with it. Why would you care if you aren't doing anything illegal?

- What pops up when Apple checks your iPhone one year warranty? Like besides if you still have it or not, like what shows up? They don't get anything like my phone info within my carrier (Verizon, T-Mobile, etc.), right? Or do they? And they check with your phones series number, right?

- Multiple smaller checks to avoid the $1000+ funds availability hold at USAA? I have USAA and I plan on using the Deposit@Mobile method of depositing with the USAA iPhone app. I want to deposit $1200 on Monday but I need the funds a few hours after I create and scan the checks in. I plan on using two $600 checks to bypass the $1000 funds availability hold regulation (that is federally enforced, to my understanding). Any potential blow back?
